As a fully licensed HVAC Technician (ahem, cough), you can easily refill your AC system. Low pressure side only, similar to doing your car. Most home systems require 2 to 4 pounds freon to refill. I believe this can holds 2.5 pounds.

My local A/C tech would add R22 for $300.  What bothered me is there was no effort to fix the leak only to add R22 and talk about buying a brand new system.  This refilled the system and a season will tell if it filled the small leak.
